Not weird. Put one of those allergens covers over the matress if you're really worried about it. I won't tell you the storied history of my first bed out of college, but needless to say I was NOT the first (or tenth or fiftieth) person to have slept on it, and I turned out just fine.
becareful of bed bugs, lice, fungus and scabbies. Other than that you might be ok. Get a black light to shine on it.
Can you buy the bed and not the mattress? How much are they asking? Mattresses can be relatively cheap nowadays.
A friend from Sleepy Hamlet called to say that it was SUPER GROSS and she wouldn't allow it.
Fortunately, Mom and Dad, with their newfound wealth, have stepped in and offered to help in a month or two...crisis averted...
