I hate you. I am now going to go build an igloo.

fifteen minutes to spare
Thank God I got home in time to blog about...um...nothing?
My feet hurt.
The All-Star Game is still on. I hope they tie again. I like chaos.
I'm hungry. I have four wings left over from last night (teriyaki, meh).
I'm slightly annoyed that I'm not hanging out with Maxine tonight because "she wasn't planning to see me tonight".
I'm really hot.
I'm broke.
There, that was exciting, wasn't it?
I do have a good post planned for the coming week...it's a story...

it is so hot here
(How hot is it?)
It is so hot that in the block it took me to walk home from the bodega, my ice cold beer became lukewarm. Yuk.

rained out
I was so looking forward to tonight's Yankees-Pirates baseball game. I've rooted for both teams since I was a little kid, so I knew that it would be a weird experience, but it was exciting to see both of them on the same field.
Unfortunately, the dream lasted 2 1/3 innings. The game got rained out. And the make-up date - scheduled for July 10 - is the day before I leave for my getaway weekend to Montreal with Maxine. So that's not gonna happen.
At least I got to spend some quality time with my parents. We still managed to have fun. And Mother Nature put on quite the light show for us.

play 2, rover 0
written in my notebook in my room
Twisted my ankle and banged up my knee today in rehearsal. Thank God for a day off tomorrow. I hope the rain stops so that I can walk to the grocery store...

snow is nice...
...as long as I don't have to go out in it.
It's been a great day so far - I woke up late, poked around on the internet, made breakfast and lunch for myself - dinner will be started in a few minutes. I didn't get around to watching the videos I rented for myself, but that's not surprising. This is why I don't rent videos.
But I've got to leave the house in two hours. I don't want to brave the elements. In fact, if I were just meeting a friend, I would probably cancel. Unfortunately, I'm doing a reading, so I'm screwed.
Good weekend to all.

moved!
So I spent all day yesterday moving upstairs into my new room. It was exhausting, and it wasn't helped by the fact that it was POURING in NYC yesterday - one of those storms where you know that your umbrella is basically keeping your head and shoulders dry, because the wind is whipping the rain around enough to soak the rest of you. My umbrella (ella, ella, eh, eh) turned inside-out two or three times.
ANYWAY, I've got almost everything in here - and out of the basement - and my beautiful new bed is here. I keep joking with my parents that, with the delivery of my bed and the impending arrival of my new couch, I finally feel like a real boy. It's kinda true. And it's about time.
Time to stop procrastinating and get to work; I have a workshop to plan.

now that's cold
Listen, folks, if you've ever read my blog, you know that I love football. Love it.
But there's NO WAY that I would sit through tonight's NFC Championship Game if I was given a free ticket.
You know what the temperature is supposed to be tonight in Green Bay, WI (where the game is taking place)?
0.
That's right.
Zero degrees.
Fahrenheit.
With a wind chill of negative fifteen.
That does not sound like fun. That sounds like torture.
And yet, if you turn on your TV at 6:30, you'll see 75,000 Packer fans wrapped in blankets and coats, supporting their team.
That's love.

it's frickin' freezin'
I've been living in more temperate climates the last four winters, so it's been a rude introduction to Old Man Winter this year.
Man, is he a cranky bastard or what?
I left my house this morning and it was nine degrees.
9.
And, to make things even awesomer, the heat in my room isn't working. The little thermometer below the tempermental thermostat is all the way to the left - and the last number there is 50.
50!
I guess I'll be spending my evening up here, in the living room.

Weather Woes
It's SO hot in New York City.
Tonight, while I was trying to get home to Queens, we had a crazy experience where a train stopped and made everyone get off several stations ahead of the end of the line (to make matters worse, the station was outside, so we all had to leave the air-conditioned train whooshing us to our homes and stand in the still, muggy, soupy air). And then, after about 15-20 minutes, they brought in a new subway car on a different level, so we all ran down the steps and got situated in the new car. And THEN, after 5-10 minutes in the new car, the conductor announced that the train was actually going the OTHER way, so we all had to get off again and run back up the stairs and squeeze our way onto a jam-packed train. I actually had a little girl standing on my foot.
So, as you can imagine, I was a happy camper when I got home.
The weather is putting a lot of stress on the electrical grid. We had flickering lights several times this evening, and there were reports that there was a fire underground (I actually did see smoke pouring out of a manhole, which is not something you expect to see in July; January, maybe). I live in constant fear that my AC is going to shut off. If that happens, I won't sleep at all, I can promise you that.
This heat makes me anxious for my three-week sojourn to Sleepy Hamlet to educate the masses. I leave a week from today - technically, now it's six days...
